More about Tim

Tim served in the Royal Air Force, beginning his career as a dental assistant and retiring from the military 22 years later as dental hygienist, working alongside the Clinical Advisor in Periodontology and mentoring military Dental Hygienists.  Whilst in the military, he gained invaluable experience, living and practicing in UK, Falkland Islands, Hong Kong, Cyprus, New Zealand, Germany and Holland.

This was followed by three years at a UK Specialist Periodontal Practice working alongside top European Periodontists Dr Jose Zurdo and Dr Cristina Romao. In 2007 Tim qualified with the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) as a Practice Appraiser, qualifying him to clinically appraise all UK based dental clinicians and dental offices.

His time now is split between research, speaking, writing, teaching and consulting.  In 2011 he completed a post-graduate mentoring qualification and with Philips helped set up the first privately funded UK Mentoring Program for newly graduated dental hygienists and therapists.

In 2012 Tim graduated as a Teacher from the University of Bedfordshire. In 2015 he graduated with a Master of Arts in Medical Education receiving a Commendation from the University of Bedfordshire.  His final thesis utilised O’Hehir University Faculty, Graduates and Students to qualitatively research the optimisation of teaching and learning within a virtual learning environment.

Tim is an active member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy where he sits on the Educational Committee and recently became the first non-US based Dental Hygienist to be invited to the American Academy of Dental Hygiene.
